Thanarerk chosen as new Appeal Court president | Bangkok Post: news


(Photo by Apichart Jinakul)The Judicial Commission on Monday selected Thanarerk Nitiseranee, a Supreme Court judge handling rice-scheme cases, as the new president of the Appeal Court, according to an informed source. He replaces Sirichai Watthanayothin, who resigned in protest at the Judicial Commission’s decision to reject him for the position of Supreme Court president. Mr Thanarerk is a Supreme Court vice president hearing a rice sales case that emerged under the former government of Yingluck Shinawatra. Six vice-presidents of the Supreme Court were also appointed at Monday's meeting of the Judicial Commission, the source said. Ubolrat Luiwikakai, president of the Supreme Court’s division handling environmental cases, was appointed first vice-president of the Supreme Court; Thanasit Nilkamhaeng, president of the Supreme Court’s division handling election-related cases is the new second vice-president of the court; Salaikes Watthanaphan, president of the Supreme Court’s division handling tax-related cases was appointed third vice-president of the court.
